Experts Don't Recommend Any Long Flight Without These 3 Items

Updated: Aug 28, 2020

Don’t take another flight without these 3 necessities in your carry-on.

Necessity 1: Chargers and Plugs

When packing a carry-on, you must bring all necessary chargers and plugs. If you don’t, then your mobile devices will be useless in a matter of hours. To avoid this catastrophe, write a note or charge everything the night before and then pack the chargers before you go to bed.

You will want to bring the charger for everything you will need on the plane and at your destination, including…

Another way to ensure that you always have the chargers you need is to buy extra and keep them in your suitcase at all times.

If you are not thrilled about the idea of having a million cords in your bag, then consider buying a universal charger that will power any device. They are cost-effective and can be a lifesaver.

Depending on the type of device, you may have to kick it up a notch with a super-charger that can also power your computer.

Necessity 2: Entertainment

The second necessity that you need on your flight is a way to entertain yourself. Some people prefer a long book, some people listen to music, and others watch movies.

As an all in one step, you should buy an additional tablet or a cost-effective laptop that you keep in your suitcase that is strictly used for travel. A price-friendly device will not only provide entertainment when you travel but can also help you with maps and productivity when you are at your destination.

You don’t want to break the bank on this device, so consider a tablet that is lightweight but also allows you to watch movies, read books, and take pictures for under $100.

If you want something a bit heftier then consider an inexpensive laptop that will also fit into your suitcase but will provide plenty of entertainment options and can be used for productivity like editing travel videos and looking up tourist info.

A laptop like this affordable and powerful HP model or Acer machine will allow you to do just that.

Step 3: Toiletries

The third final necessity on any plane trip are products that make you feel fresh and not smell bad.

Airplanes can be very stuffy environments, and when your flight lands, you could end up feeling less than perfect. At a minimum, bring the basic toiletries on your flight, including deodorant, mouth wash, and maybe a small allowable tube of toothpaste.

At some point during the flight, take a few minutes to head to the lavatory and freshen up a bit. You will feel a lot better, and your fellow travelers will thank you for it!

Wrap Up and Final Notes

Keep in mind that these are just the bare necessities. If you are traveling with kids or a large group, then you will want to bring more. If you are taking a short flight, then you may need less.

Some other essentials you may consider are a change of clothes, tasty snacks (ideally protein like a pack of nuts), and maybe some playing cards in case you don’t have a place to plug in.

Whatever you bring, dress comfortably, be prepared, and have a nice flight.
